The Hospital's Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology specializes in child nutrition, general pediatric gastroenterology, endoscopic examinations, and invasive endoscopic treatment. The most common symptoms in children seeking medical attention in the Division are abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, bloody stool, and malnutrition. In the general examinations performed by the Division, abdominal ultrasound is the most commonly used. It is a quick and convenient examination, and about 2,000 children are tested annually here. The Hospital is the only hospital in Taiwan with an exclusive operating room for pediatric gastroenterology and general anesthesia by professional pediatric anesthesiologists. Moreover, we also provide emergency endoscopic digestive tract foreign body removal and gastrointestinal endoscopic hemostasis treatment throughout the year. We are a pioneer in percutaneous endoscopic gastrojejunostomy (PEG-J) in Taiwan, now a regular operation in the Division.
