Pediatric Dermatology
The Division provides young children with appropriate steroids and scabicides, preoperative tranquilizers, proper antihistamines, preoperative local anesthetics, and skin laser therapy. Common diseases in pediatric dermatology include atopic dermatitis, autoimmune skin diseases (e.g., leukoplakia and vasculitis), and hemangioma in children. The prevalence of atopic dermatitis is about 5.28 percent among Taiwanese children aged six to 12 years and is concentrated in infancy, so special care and treatment should be given, while the prevalence of atopic dermatitis is about 10 percent in the population of children aged zero to six years old. Common skin problems in children include skin infections, skin blisters, scabies, corns, rashes, psoriasis, birthmarks, chicken pox, eczema, and diaper rash.
